Our People

Craig Roulston

Managing Director

Craig has spent 38 years in the composite industry, initially as a fibreglass laminator manufacturing beach-buggies, power boats, and trailer-sailers.

Glass-reinforced plastic has always been an interest of Craig’s, as exotic methods and materials used in the manufacture of GRP products are always evolving.

Craig has been involved in many product developments and manufacturing methods over the years, from corrosion-resistant high-tech laminates to general purpose household products.

After 10 years in Australia manufacturing water storage tanks, Craig returned to New Zealand and continued with the water storage tanks for a few years, until selling the business.

Alsynite was a natural progression for Craig, as the state-of-the-art sheeting lines we now operate are entirely designed and built by us and our engineering partners here in the Waikato.

From humble beginnings in a small Cambridge factory in 1993, Alsynite NZ has become a New Zealand market leader in translucent sheeting manufacture. Craig takes particular pride in the fact that our products and machinery are manufactured to our own specifications, and we are recognised globally as being leaders in our field.

Darren McEntee

Marketing & Technical Sales Manager

Darren spent many years in the automotive industry, and was employed in key roles in the tyre industry. Some 10 years ago he decided on a complete change and joined the building industry, managing a garage door company.

In 2003 Darren joined Placemakers, as an Account Manager, where he spent five years establishing a loyal base of builders and construction companies. This led to his position with Alsynite NZ Ltd in 2008.

Darren remarks that his role as Marketing and Technical Sales Manager is varied and every day presents new challenges that keep the job interesting, to say the least.

"I believe that Alsynite is a very professional company that offers its clients the highest quality products possible. This, along with my own goal to supply my customer with the best service possible, results in a win-win for all involved."

Darren's automotive interests have not been forgotten, though. Most will know about his annual trips to Bathurst, along with his passion for American classic cars. “Basically anything motorsport will get my attention – or a day on the water fishing.”

“Outside of work I enjoy travel overseas with my wife, family and friends. I have an avid interest in sailing. In my spare time you’ll find me on the ocean – boating, fishing and diving. I enjoy outdoor living and entertaining.”

Philip Allan

Sales Manager – South Island

Phil started his career in the apparel industry. Employed in both retail and wholesale roles within the rag trade, he then

spent some years with NZ Railways as a locomotive engineer before embarking on a career in the roofing industry.

Phil ran his own roofing contracting business for some 15 years before joining Alsynite NZ Ltd eight years ago. He brings practical knowledge and a real understanding of the challenges that face those at the coal-face of our industry.

Phil says his role as the South Island Sales Manager brings both great challenges and rewards. He says the people he deals with make the role especially enjoyable, and he is pleased to be working for a company that is the market leader in its field.

Away from work Phil has interests in his family, fast cars, camping, and trying to catch the big fish.
